TSC Issues New Circular: Revised Dates Announced for Teacher Promotion Interviews 2025

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has released a new circular officially announcing the rescheduling of teacher promotion interview dates that were initially planned for Friday, 17th October 2025. This comes after the Government declared the same day a public holiday in honour of the late Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, whose contribution to democracy, good governance, and education remains remarkable in Kenya’s history.

According to Circular No. 22/2025, dated 16th October 2025, the Commission has temporarily suspended all promotional interviews that were set for the declared holiday. The circular, signed by E. J. Mitei, the Acting Commission Secretary and CEO, communicates that all affected interviews will be rescheduled within the following week to ensure a smooth continuation of the ongoing promotion process.

TSC has confirmed that the postponed interviews will now take place over three working days, from Tuesday, 21st October to Thursday, 23rd October 2025. The Commission also clarified that the respective Regional Directors will issue updated timetables and logistical details to all affected candidates. Teachers who were scheduled to attend the Friday sessions are therefore advised to remain alert for further communication from their regional offices.

This decision underscores TSC’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and consideration of teachers’ convenience during the promotion exercise. It also reflects the Commission’s respect for national events and its effort to align official activities with the Government’s calendar.

In her statement, Ms. Mitei expressed appreciation for the professionalism and understanding demonstrated by teachers during the ongoing promotion process. She further encouraged educators to take the brief rescheduling period as a moment of reflection on the life and legacy of the late Raila Odinga, describing him as a national icon whose dedication to democracy and education remains indelible.

The TSC promotion interviews are a critical step in recognizing hardworking teachers and elevating them to higher job groups and administrative roles. The process aims to strengthen leadership within schools and improve service delivery across the education sector.

Teachers are urged to stay informed through official TSC communication channels and avoid misinformation circulating on social media. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all qualified teachers are interviewed fairly and that promotions are based strictly on merit and established policy guidelines.
